Pokemon FireRed is now playable in Minecraft—sort of.
Creator Reqaug designed a version of Pokemon FireRed to run on a virtual Game Boy Advance in Minecraft. It's an impressive feat, but still a work-in-progress. Reqaug created the Pokemon replica using Minecraft's structure blocks, which were introduced in update 1.10.
The map—which took Reqaug three weeks to make—currently allows players to move around and interact with objects. Dialogue and actual Pokemon are still in development, the creator noted. These features are expected to make it into the game as a later update.
No modding is needed for those interested in trying out Pokemon FireRed in Minecraft; only Minecraft update 1.10 is required.
Not interested in Pokemon in Minecraft? Maybe you'd prefer it on your smartphone? Mobile application Pokemon GO has begun its worldwide release, and is now available on Android and iOS devices in select regions.
