New Overwatch Character to Be Revealed This Month

Will Sombra come out from the shadows?

There were rumours. There were teases. And now we know that, almost certainly, we'll see a new Overwatch character revealed on July 21.

Listed among San Diego Comic-Con's many panels is a Blizzard-hosted affair tellingly titled, "Behind the Scenes of Overwatch's Newest Hero".

The panel's listing says,"Blizzard developers James Waugh (director of story & creative development), Michael Chu (senior designer, Overwatch), and Arnold Tsang (assistant art director, Overwatch) present a behind-the-scenes look into the creative process of developing the art, design, and story for Overwatch's newest hero."

If you're as paranoid and desperate as this writer, you might be worried that that wording could imply that the panel would simply focus on the last character revealed before launch, rather than someone truly new. But worry not! The last Overwatch character reveal included Mei, Genji and D.va, meaning there's no single "newest" existing hero to focus on.

So, will this be the long-rumored support-sniping, Pharah-mothering, Reaper-associating Sombra? All the signs seem to be pointing in that direction. Two weeks seems so far away.
