The new Little Witch Academia TV series will be making its way to Netflix, as the popular streaming service has licensed Studio Trigger's upcoming anime.
News of Netflix's acquisition was announced during Trigger's panel at Anime Expo this weekend (via Anime News Network). As far as we know, the series will only be available on Netflix, as there was no announcement for the show's availability on competing streaming services like Crunchyroll or Funimation.
Little Witch Academia started out as an animated short in 2013 and received a sequel feature last year called Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, both of which are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
The new 30-minute series will feature the return of director Yoh Yoshinari and tell the story of Akko Kagariis, an ordinary girl and her adventures at an all-girls witch school called Luna Nova Academy.
This year's Anime Expo brought with it many other exciting announcements, including new details on the FLCL sequel and upcoming Blu-ray releases for Code Geass and Escaflowne. For more on anime, be sure to check out IGN Anime Club.
