Yesterday, Marvel made the surprise announcement that the Iron Man mantle is being passed to 15-year-old tech whiz Riri Williams. And now, thanks to CBR, we know what this teen, female Iron Man will look like.
Check out Stefano Caselli's concept art for the new Iron Man armor below:
Clearly, the new armor is sticking closely to the aesthetic established by Tony's current armor. Compared to traditional Iron Man suits, this one is sleeker, smaller and more angular. And if it takes after the current armor, expect Riri's new suit to be able to able to adapt to just about any threat, including a built-in stealth mode and the ability to transform into a Hulkbuster suit.
Riri currently wears a much bulkier and less advanced version of the Iron Man armor in the pages of Invincible Iron Man. She reverse-engineered that suit in her MIT dorm room, whereas this new armor will show what she's capable of when she has Tony Stark's resources at her disposal.
There are still plenty of questions surrounding the new Iron Man and her role in the post-Civil War II Marvel Universe, including what part Tony himself will have to play in the new Invincible Iron Man comic. In an interview with Time, writer Brian Michael Bendis said that Riri's story will be one of a troubled teen rising from a violent upbringing and using her incredible intelligence to make her world a better place.
Look for Riri to debut in her new armor when Invincible Iron Man #1 hits stores in October.
