New iPhones, a new Apple Watch, and much more.

Apple had a number of major announcements during its September 12 event, including reveals of iPhone X and iPhone 8, a new cellular-equipped Apple Watch, and much more.

For an overview of all the big news from today's event, check out our comprehensive rundown below:

Unquestionably, the star of the event was the iPhone X, Apple's most advanced iPhone, featuring an edge-to-edge Super Retina 5.8" display with 458 ppm (2426x1125) that uses OLED technology and features HDR support. In addition to sporting glass surfaces on both the front and the back, the iPhone X doesn't have a home button. Instead users can swipe up from the bottom to access the home screen.

iPhone X also features what Apple calls the TrueDepth Camera system, which features an infrared camera, dot projector, front camera, flood illuminator, proximity sensor along the top of the device, making its new unlock feature Face ID possible. With iPhone X's new A11 Bionic chip, the device features facial recognition that allows you to unlock the phone by simply looking at it. The feature, which adapts to changes in your face and what you're wearing, will work with Apple Pay and various third-party apps. Also featured on iPhone X are Animojis, animated emojis that mimic your facial expressions. Users will be able to create and share Animojis within Apple Messages.

Additionally, iPhone X features 12MP dual cameras, better low-light zoom, quad-LED True Tone flash, dual optical image stabilization, and supports 4K video and augmented reality. The phone's battery life lasts 2 hours longer than iPhone 7 and supports wireless charging that uses the Qi open wireless standard. AirPower, a wireless charging station that can charge iPhone, Apple Watch and EarPods simultaneously is also on the way.

iPhone X will be available in 64GB and 256GB versions, with prices starting at $999. The device will available in either Space Gray or Silver. Preorders open October 27, ahead of its November 3 release.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

Apple also revealed the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which, like the iPhone X, features a glass front and back. It also features a New Retina HD display, with the iPhone 8 Plus model sporting a 5.5" screen and the standard model having a 4.7" display. Additionally, Apple announced the device's new operating system, iOS 11, will arrive on September 19.

It also features the A11 Bionic chip and a 12MP dual camera that supports 4K video and augmented reality. During the event, developer Directive Games announced The Machines, a competitive multiplayer game designed for AR, which is coming exclusively to the iOS App Store this month.

Also, like iPhone X, iPhone 8 will feature wireless charging support.

Series 3 also features a custom W2 chip to deliver faster wifi, as well as a Siri that can talk, and a new dual core processor that posts performance by 70 percent. The watch is the same size as the Series 2 model and will be available with a variety of band colors.

Watch OS 4 was also announced, bringing with it an improved heart rate app, smart activity coaching, a redesigned music experience, and more. Watch OS 4 will be available on September 19.

In addition to featuring a 2x faster CPU and 4x faster GPU, the device also features a UI redone in 4K. Those who have purchased HD movies on iTunes will be able to upgrade those movies to the 4K version for free.

Apple TV 4K with 32GB will be available for $179, while the 64GB option will be priced at $199. The basic 32GB model will now be priced at $149. Preorders begin on September 15, ahead of its September 22 release.

Thatgamecompany's new game, Sky

Thatgamecompany, the independent game studio behind Flower and Journey, surprised everyone with the announcement of Sky, a "romantic social adventure game" where up to eight players from around the world can connect and explore the clouds.
