Does Spider-Man Remember Secret Wars?

The memory floodgates have opened.

The newest issue of Amazing Spider-Man included some key new developments in the life of Peter Parker.

Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man #15!

During the final battle between Spider-Man and the power-thieving villain known as Regent (which also saw Mary Jane don her ex-boyfriend's Iron Spider costume to lend a hand), all three characters had a crucial flashback to the events of Secret Wars. Even though few Marvel characters still remember the events of Secret Wars, it seems that Spidey, MJ and regent all retain some memory of life on Battleworld.

This could be a crucial new twist in the rocky relationship between Peter and MJ because Renew Your Vows depicted an alternate world where the two were married and had a daughter named Annie May. Will Peter and MJ remember their daughter? And if so, how will they react to that knowledge?

The other big twist in this issue came in the aftermath of the battle with Regent. No sooner did Peter and his friends gather for some well-deserved celebration than J. Jonah Jameson, Sr. (Aunt May's current husband) started coughing up blood and passed out. May herself was shown to be ill in the previous issue, so it appears that both May and her husband have contracted a deadly disease. As the series begins gearing up for the Clone Conspiracy crossover this fall, no doubt this dark new development will play into that storyline.
